Once upon a time, there was a tailor in Coimbatore named S.Mudiappa Chettiar. His specialty was European ladies tailoring .He had 100 tailors under his command.In order to cater to his European clients he started a bakery in the name “Glad Well & Company”.Later it was named as JM English Bakery. “JM” stand for his beloved wife “Jabamalai Mary”.He started the bakery in such a time in India when Bread was considered sick man’s food .Initially, there were no takers for his bread. But the 2nd World war turned the tide in his favor.He became the official supplier to the Armed forces during 1935. Then there was no turning back.
